LIMAR AIR SPEED. DEVELOPED AND PROJECTED WITH TEAM ASTANA
More aerodynamics than ever: developed and projected with Team Astana, the Air Speed has been tested with other helmets to check the aerodynamic resistance inside the Wind Tunnel in Magny-Cours, in France, turning out to be the best at an average speed of 40 km/h.
AIR SPEED gets record values referring to the aerodynamic resistance coefficient, fruit of our continuous research to overcome new limits in terms of performance, safety and reliability.
WE WENT BEYOND WIND TUNNEL
Studies have proved that about 20% of the aerodynamic drag depends on the bicycle used during competitions, while the remaining 80% is due to the athlete’s position on the saddle. The helmet is therefore the fundamental element to minimize the frontal area and to determine a better aerodynamic penetration.
And then the wind tunnel tests...
Not only with three-dimensional simulation supports, using CFD software, but also taking into account the numerous variables, especially in competitions, when the rider hardly remains on the saddle in the same position, moving the head countless times.
And here comes our Limar Airspeed: designers found the perfect combination between aerodynamic advantage (wind tunnel test) and better dynamics both on open roads and in velodromes (tests in real-life environmental conditions). It was during one of the recent road training sessions in Calp and indoor at the Valencia velodrome, that the Astana Team riders were able to really test the helmet. They got incredibly excited of the characteristics that make AIR SPEED the ideal helmet.
EXTREME VENTILATION
12 air vents and 3 longitudinal channels allow a faster extraction of hot air, granting an immediate cool effect in the head and even during long performances. Aerodynamics and compact, with a very nice shape and attractive line as if drawn by the wind.
BEST COMFORT
Thanks to the head adjustment system AIR FIT SYSTEM, light and compact with both vertical and horizontal adjustment, in perfect connection with straps, for a really comfortable and safe fitting. Supplied with Fidlock magnetic buckle and soft, washable and non-allergenic pads.
MIPS AIR
Mips Air is a rotational management system developed and designed to be the lightest system possible to help reduce rotational energies otherwise transferred to the head during an impact or crash. The Mips Air technology is integrated into the padding of the helmet and enables and 10-15mm of relative movement between the energy absorbing layer and the padding. The relative movement of the Mips Air is enabled by having a backing of polycarbonate PC with a special low friction treatment and being held by specifically designed fixations enabling movement in all directions. By being integrated into the padding, the system is as light as it gets and designed to fit each specific helmet and size, barely being visible to the user and adding only limiated weight to the helmet.

Aggiornamento del 12.09.2024: aggiorno a 5 stelle perché dopo un contatto con Limar in cui chiedevo se potevano spedirmi (per sicurezza) un set di pad per MIPS, mi hanno chiesto le foto del difetto. Poi hanno provveduto a spedirmi 2 coppie di pad, per MIPS e per cuscinetti standard e mi hanno inviato un codice sconto del 30% su un prossimo acquisto per scusarsi del "disagio" subito.
Venerdì 9 agosto ordinato, per mail ricevo conferma d'ordine e che mi arriverà l'avviso di spedizione. Lunedì 13 agosto non mi arriva nulla. Martedì pensavo fossero andati (giustamente) in ferie e invece in tarda mattinata arriva il corriere col casco. GRANDI!!!
Oggi, mercoledì 15 agosto mi arriva la mail con l'avviso di spedizione, è arrivato prima il casco della mail!
Oggi l'ho provato, prendete le mie parole con cautela, potrebbero essere affette dal "entusiasmo del nuovo".
Aerodinamica: 1Watt ai 36km/h sono circa 10 grammi, non sono in grado di sentirli ma mi fido e il casco è belissimo.
Aerazione: non dovrebbe essere il massimo dell'aerazione ma rispetto ai miei vecchi LIMAR XXX (credo MOD 8.43), LIMAR 520 e LIMAR Ultralight pro 104 mi sembra migliore. probabilmente i fori di uscita, per effetto Venturi o Coanda (o quello che più vi pare) riescono a risucchiare aria dalle prese anteriori in maniera molto efficiente. Ho notato che l'effetto "fresco" dopo aver bagnato la bandana è stato maggiore che con gli altri caschi. Lo svantaggio rispetto agli altri è la maggior difficoltà a bagnarsi in pedalata...ma è un casco aero.
MIPS: spero di non doverlo mai collaudare.
Sgancio magnetico Fidlock: il resto ti sembrerà preistoria!
Perché solo 4 stelle: 2 supporti velcro dove agganciare la struttura MIPS non erano nella corretta posizione. Uno addirittura era incollato in un punto in cui la struttura MIPS non si poteva agganciarsi. Poco male, li ho rimessi a posto facilmente ma è una imprecisione che non mi sarei aspettata da LIMAR.
Conclusione: ordine e consegna eccellenti, casco fantastico.
