THE LAST LAP OF VINCENZO NIBALI

A few days ago, at the end of the fifth stage of the Giro D'Italia, arriving in his Messina, Vincenzo Nibali announced his retirement at the end of the year:

"I am here to announce that this will be my last Giro and at the end of the year I will leave professionalism.

I was waiting for this stage because this is where it all began - he said with shining eyes from the stage of the Giro d'Italia after arriving in Messina - I left home at just 15 years old, I gave so much to cycling and I collected so much : now I want to give back to my family all the time I have taken away from them over the years."

Limar is proud to be able to share this last year with this great champion.

For this latest edition of the Giro, the Shark is chasing a dream: to win a stage to thank the fans who are supporting him relentlessly.

Vincenzo gains positions in the general classification, he is now eighth, his gap of 2 minutes and 58 seconds could really make us dream. Nibali is confirmed once again in a great condition, but his greatest satisfaction would be to win a stage in order to reciprocate the affection of the people who accompany him from stage to stage, as confirmed by himself in the post-race interviews:

"I am really very happy with the reception of the public, since the beginning of the Giro it gives me great strength and I would like to dedicate a stage victory to them. But perhaps not even a month would be enough to thank everyone. I continue to run carefree, if one day I jump it's not a problem."

A mutual love between Nibali, cycling and his fans that will make him think without regret about the good times he had on his bike.

"The team is important in supporting a rider and the fans also have their importance, because they are the ones who sometimes help you not to give up and do something sensational. I carry on with the thanks, and then I thank them."

A LEGEND

Two Giri d'Italia, a Vuelta and a Tour de France have opened the doors of a prestigious cycling G7 which also includes Merckx, Anquetil, Gimondi, Hinault, Contador and Froome, the only ones in history capable of winning them all. and three major stage races.

Nibali is in fact one of only seven riders to have won all three Grand Tours: the Vuelta a Espana in 2010 and the Tour de France in 2013 and his two successes at the Giro d'Italia in 2013 and 2016. In a career that has lasted for three decades, Nibali has also become a double national champion, twice winner of both the Tirreno-Adriatico and Lombardy, winner of the Milan-San Remo and stage winner of the Grand Tour on 14 occasions.

A career, that of Vincenzo Nibali, as a cycling legend.

And it is no coincidence that the Shark has chosen to end his career in the Kazakh team which has given him so many emotions.

Of course, a double thanks to Vincenzo comes directly from the Giro d'Italia itself, which a few days ago gave him a dedication full of emotions.

Thanks Shark!
