Astana Qazaqstan Team

Mark Cavendish will start 2024 in Colombia

By Limar

All eyes will be on Team Astana-Qazaqstan as Mark Cavendish goes for the World Record TdF stage win record! His 35th stage win would allow him to overtake Eddy Merckx and become the all-time record holder for partial successes in the most exciting Tour ever.

The year 2024 is shaping up to be a year of big changes for the Kazakhstan formation, which
has revolutionised the roster with 14 new riders and built a train with experienced men to try for its 35th success.

In addition to Cees Bol, who was hired last year, and newcomers Max Kanter, Rüdiger Selig and Davide Ballerini has brought in Michael Mørkøv, one of the best last men in the peloton and one of the best movers in the final kilometers leading to the finish.

The expectation is for a new course for a team that is preparing to live the season as a protagonist.

Something completely new on Mark Cavendish's calendar. The British rider will open his final season of a very long and successful career at the Tour of Colombia, which returns to the calendar after a three-year absence.

It is a different choice from his usual for the Astana Qazaqstan rider, who very often had chosen the Middle East for his season opener.

Air pro and Air Atlas are the absolute stars for the 2024 World Tour season as well, but don't miss out on all the new things to come, special editions, new collections, new products.

Limar AIR PRO helmet boasts an extremely innovative production process in which the carbon fiber – due to its high mechanical resistance and lightweight properties – becomes the heart of the helmet. This improves helmet safety without compromising on weight.

CARBONCORETECH:

The 3K carbon coupled inside with EPS gives top resistance core, and is the main feature of the Air Pro. Two structural wings merge with the side ribs of the shell, creating a highly performing cage.

So far used as a finish, the 3K carbon is now co-moulded with EPS in 5 layers, not as a simple film (only one or two layers maximum). It is the same process used for building bike frames. In this way it takes an exceptional mechanical resistance, allowing the use of the thinnest thickness. The carbon now becomes the soul of the helmet, acting with the expanded polystyrene to create a highly performing cage in terms of safety and allowing to optimize ventilation on the head of the riders, and the aerodynamics of the air flows around the helmet.

AERODYNAMICS:

The pyramidal surface of the longitudinal ribs reduces the impact pressure since it cuts the air and allows a smooth sliding. The very thin carbon wings allow easy inflow and improved air circulation. The extended tail prevent turbulence: the mathematical simulation CFD datas integrated with Wind Tunnel tests demonstrate an increase in aerodynamic efficiency of 20% compared to the LIMAR Ultralight+ model, proved also by the several tests achieved in velodromes/wind tunnels (tests in real-life environmental conditions with Astana Team riders).
